Sensing and IOT | Monitoring Mould

This page is a graphical user interface component of the DE4-SIOT coursework submission. Real time data is collected, analysed and displayed on this page. This project aims to monitor the environmental conditions of the area around a window, provide alerts of high risk conditions and allow actuation of mould deterrents.

This light will turn bright red if the outdoor temperature exceeds the dew point of the room. This means that there is high risk of condensation forming around the window area Mould likes to grow at temperatures above 20 degrees, however that is how warm we like it. Temperature and Humidity are inversely related so, if humidity is a little high, try turning up the thermostat! Humidity levels above 55% are prime mould growing conditions!
 

Actuation

Activating the smart windows will allow natural venitilation into the space without compromising on safety.

Turning up the heating will decrease the humidity of the space.

Lower the humidity of the space by actuating the de-humidifier.

This graph shows the risk of condensation forming around the window area over the last day. A safe value of 1 indicates that the risk is low, a safe value of 0 indicates the risk is high. This graph shows the temperature of the room over the last day. This graph shows the air humidity levels inside the room over the last day. Remember above 55% is considered dangerous.
